The Events Barn will be
hosting workshops by
institute for sustainable living, art
& natural design
ISLAND’s mission is to create spaces that explore the
integration of art, natural design and sustainable living.
We do this to begin answering the question: Can we live in
such a way that cares for small places?
Our vision is inspired in large part by the work and
writings of Wendell Berry, whose essay "The Purpose of a
Coherent Community" asks a number of similar questions. Our
work is to create such a small place, coherently connected
to the arts, to agriculture, ecology and the larger
cultural and economic communities of Bellaire, Forest Home
Township, Antrim County and Northwest Lower Michigan.

Oven Workshop
Participate and learn how
to build your own outdoor wood-fired pizza
oven.
Part 1 Building the base. August 7th from 2-5 p.m. This
part of the workshop will be demonstrated by Tillers
International.
The base will be built out of 6 x 6 wood timbers using
traditional timber framing techniques.
$5 participation fee. Wear your work cloths.
